Last week the application deadline for the third group of Seafood Trainees ended. This year a record numbers of candidates have applied to the program. 406 recent graduates with master’s degree within economics, technology, marketing, science, law, fish health and more, are seeking for an exciting career in the seafood sector.

A job in a seafood company, an acadmic program and networking

The programme is a combination of a job in a seafood company, and an academic programme of 12 days spread over four modules in Bergen, Trondheim, Brussel/Paris and Tromsø. Seafood Trainee is a one-year programme. Throughout the trainee period the candidates are employed with one company. As a trainee they will be part of daily operations of this company and will gain knowledge about its total operations worldwide.

The program is a combination of a job in one of the companies participating in the program, an academic program of 12 days spread over four modules in Norway and a study trip abroad. The academic modules serve several purposes. The most important one is building relevant competence through lectures, group work and company presentations. In addition they serve as a meeting place for exchange of experience as well as a social arena for networking. Altogether this will give a broad overview of the various entities in the seafood industry.

17 participating companies

The programme has been popular among the companies within the seafood sector and we are happy to announce that this year 16 companies are participating in the program.

The companies are looking for candidates with competence within all competence areas, and the new trend is that several of the companies are looking for candidates with competence within in digitalization, IT and technology.

“Norwegian companies within the seafood sector are world leading on aquaculture and fisheries, and the programme will focus on new important subjects as sustainability, technology, digitalization and innovation.
